Beer Battered Fish and Chips with Breco Chip and Dip Sauce

INGREDIENTS

  • Serves 4

  • Vegetable Oil for Frying

  • 4 x 250g Hake Fillets

  • Salt and Ground White Pepper to taste

  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour

  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Salt

  • 1 Extra Large Egg - Beaten

  • 360ml Larger (Beer)

  • 1 Onion - sliced into thin rings

  • METHOD:

  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 185 degrees

  • Pat the fish dry and season lightly with Salt and Pepper

  • Mix the Flour and Spices together, and stir in the Beaten Egg

  • Mix in the beer to form a smooth batter

  • Dip the Hake Fillets into the batter and drop them into the hot oil, a few pieces at a time

  • Cook till crisp and golden

  • Drain the oil from the fish and set aside

  • Stir the onion rings into the remaining batter and fry until crisp and golden


  • Serve the battered fish with the onion rings, chips, a fresh green salad and a bowl of Breco Chip and Dip Sauce

  • Garnish with wedges of freshly cut lemon
